Hi, I'm a drummer based in East London. I'm a rock drummer, but I'm more than willing to experiment in different styles. I'm looking for people to jam with. If anyone's interested, let me know.

Making it Happen
They say if you want something doing right you have to do it at all and frankly these days if you want something doing at all it's best not to just hope somebody else will. In that spirit I've just gone and organised a Christmas Jam for my village.

The basic principle is pretty strait forwards. I've booked out my village hall for an evening and let all the local musicians know I'm having a Christmas Jam where everyone can get together for the evening and hack out a few Classic Christmas numbers (Something that really needs doing given the total lack of Christmas cheese predicted for this December's music charts). No Idea how it will go but there's certainly a few people interested.

Just thought I'd mention it in case anyone else wants to try it where they live. If you do let us know how it goes and What Worked and What didn't.

Mostly Kings is a trio based out of the greater Boston area. The band combines rock with elements of blues, funk, and folk. We formed in early 2006, and completed a three song demo this fall. We have been constantly writing new material and are in the process of booking many shows. Lets bring some rock! Be our friend! E-mail us at: mostlykings@gmail.com

hey...my friend is really getting into recording. he has a bunch of stuff...mac, preamp, the works...you know?

he's a drummer that knows a shit load about engineering and recording.

so now he's trying to get a nice hard rock tone from a line 6 spider II and it's really really not working. this isn't what I need advice on.

he wants an amazingly versatile guitar that's great for studio...it needs a great clean tone and a great dirty tone.

he was thinking of maybe a tele with humbuckers...what do you think of that?

all suggestions are greatly appreciated.

thanks.

does anyone know what kind of guitar Dave Grohl used on SNL. I haven't been able to find a picture of it. But it was a recent SNL episode. The host was the same guy of the manager in the "I've got a fever and the only perscription is more cowbell..." skit. THe producer with the accent Christopher Walken.. It's a clear guitar...looks kind of like a strat but not really... Maybe it's not really clear I just couldn't see it right but it looked straight. If anyone knows where I can find a clear guitar...I'd appreciate it. thanks

so. I just joined a couple minutes ago. I'm 14 years old. I live in Florida. I have a blue American Stratocaster with a Fender Ultimate Chorus 320 watt amp. I have a lot of effects. I have a talk box, a hyper phase, a cry baby wah, and my new baby, a Digitech GNX3. IT rocks.

Anyways. I've never been in a solid band. I've just jammed with people and doen little shows at school and parties. Kind of boring but it works sometimes. My "drummer" is a complete ass so I don't play with him that much anymore...so right now I'm looking for a new drummer. My creativity is flowing more as I've just started smoking weed. No I'm not a huge pothead. at all. I've smoked only a few times but it's been flowing my creativity so whatever. So it;s been easier to jam. most of my friends play instruments so we'll just chill with some acoustics and just play something.

I have more than just my strat and stuff but the rest is boring right now.

My life revolves around music. I want to become a Music Producer when I get older.

That's me. If you want I'll post some pictures of my stuff. Questions? Comments? comment on this. I'll probably post a lot in here about pointless things about my self. just to let you all know.

oh! When I first saw this community I was pretty interested in it. Then found out that there were only 4 members. A little dissapointing but whatever...

I get really confused by jazzers and classical cats... WHat makes jazz jazz? I mean SOOO many people would say Improvisation, Swing, Extended chords, Syncopation...I duno.. it to me is what ever you can groove to, I mean Jazz... Jazz i think is Good o'le New orleans cats playing some standards and having a great time. I mean People like Joe King Oliver with Armstrong, Endmund Hall, Oscar Moore, Earl Hines... you know I love Swing and Bop but I just can't get into Avant Gaurde, Free jazz, Acid jazz even alot of Miles and Coltrane and Henderson... I love Jazz and classical music, Classical music also has imprviosation not just that typical "cadensa" crap but Beethoven was known for his improvised variations. People used to flock to see Handel and  I think Mozart battle.

Jazz i think is more than what just the name you give to that unmarketable music you can't help but envelop urself in. It's like a state of being... You can like "Jazz" but it's so heavy.... it's so intense! it's different to every one but like i siad I feel Jazz is more than that CD rack with CLifford Brown and Barry Harris and Fletcher henderson and Jimmie Blanton ya know
it is a feeling and an understnading... a respect a life style... anything! it is a music but it's more... it almost wow a religion ahahahha no no no no... It's so divcerese.. THE ONLY ARTISTIC MASTERPICE AMERICAN MADE AND GIVEN TO THE WORLD!!!  But you strip all that away and you have this Four letter word... Ever hear "and no four letter words!" Jazz... a curse word? ahahah ok that is just stupid but I LOVE It.... Can some one explain why so many musicians solo and improvise ugly sounding music... and it's great. I mean if it sounds ugly it's bad no matter how sophisticated it maybe be, SOLOING a tritone a way in a mixoldian decending sequence resolving to the subtituted minor ii-v-i inverted.. PLEASE... if it sounds good and it's comlicated GREAT
and if it sounds greta and it's simple NICE and if it tells a story.. like Charle Mingus , his stuff may be out there, but baby! you can feel it, you can't tell where he is going, he;s telling a story with his solos and GOD DAMN it's weird, dissonant but OH!!! does it sing.

I AM SO TIRED OF COOL JAzz, i've read books where they say Duke Ellignton invented cool jazz ahahahah obviosuly not MIles style cool jazz but i mean it was alwasy described as hot... ".. and his HOT five" ".. and the red HOTS" soo hello  BUT Explain to me modern jazz.KENNY G IS NOT JAZZ he has even said it himself I mean I analayze the solos, understand the harmonies... but I just don't like it... WHY are you amazing if it sounds bad...SORRY i was so werid but all this stuff jumped on my mind... I LOVE MUSIC... and I really feel I am open to so much, On the last CD i burned I had Gordon MacRea singing summer time ( a movie star from the 40'-60's), Nat King COle, Guns 'n roses, Ella, Diana
Krall, Caruso,Clapton, BB King, Bing Crosby, Al Jolson.  and I was just listeigng to  Paglaci so... if you have any suggestions on some music to listen to... PLZ tell me!!!

jamming... good for the soul!
I sometimes get that feeling of spiritual and emotional starvation, wheneverI sit around teaching some kid to play a niravan riff for the 12th time in a week while all I want to do is rock out on a I-IV-V progression in E minor.

I'm a guitarist in Cedar Fallas Iowa (if you are from the area, you may have seen me busking on main street), always looking for a good jam. Blues, funk, rock... whatever. It's fun :)

And this concludes my first post anywhere on livejournal except for my own journal. I'm such a newbie.

Current Mood: energetic
